Two obscure designers (who were the It designers back in the 90s) I remember fondly are Herve Leger and Azzedine Alaia.

HL used to do fabulous band dresses that lift and cling in all the right places.. I remember trying on a creation of his and man oh man, it made me like I had a 22 inch waist (in reality it was 25 inch), D cup boobs (actually C cup without aid) and extra perky butt (originally perky without aid hahaha). Remarkable. He was like, the king of sexy couture back in the 90s, and amongst all the designers, Iman chose him as her wedding dress designer. Smart choice I say.

Well, after keeping low for quite a bit, after the split with BCBG and all that, he has resurfaced as Herve L. Leroux. Does it mean band dresses are going back? If so, I welcome them onto my bosom literally.

As for AA, the heralded King of Cling, whose dresses prominently cups the bosom and butt lovingly, it seems like he plain vanished from fashion’s radar. No beep about him since 2003 when he came to Singapore for the Singapore Fashion Festival back then. I loved both designers. Their creations were such works of art and screamed womanly sensuality. They truly understood the woman’s body. Such a rarity.

I heart the first Orla Kiely home collection series (launched in Autumn/ Winter 2006), although I am not a big fan of her apparel line - too busy and “printy” as I prefer clean and simple.

I love her wallpapers! It’s so shabby chic lovely.

Nice to have as an accent retro/ vintage piece.

Some dresses from Spring/ Summer 07 that are so pretty that I wish I am size 0 sometimes.

    Not.

Chanel This season, Karl Lagerfeld came out with a collection consisting almost entirely of frilly frou frou and busy concoctions. Not very Chanel and chic. Only managed to see two pieces that scream the Chanel style. Other than that, zilch.

I love the neckline on the left! The whole outfit is styled so Parisian chic. And both have the clean sleek lines and colour coordination that I favour.

I love the ethereal feel to both dresses and the cut out hemlines. Especially the one on the right. The bold lines makes it not so girly sweet. Love the different texture of the train.

    Givenchy
Collection by Riccardo Tisci, Creative Director of Givenchy.

Love the clean lines and superb tailoring that went into the design on the right. Gorgeous.

    Love the hem details.
    Dior
    As modelled by Shalom:
This is my favourite. It’s so obscenely beautiful. The texturing, the styling, the tailoring techniques.

I like how it’s so not “Lindsay Lohan” in the ad. It’s like a whole personality displacement took place. I see a pirouette doll, vivid stark colours, beautiful styling and boldness but no traces of the hard partying LL here.

The stylist is fantastic. As is the advertising concept. It’s just so…. pleasing to the eye.

Am a sucker for 1. feminine chic 2. simple lines 3. harmonious colours.

I love the ethereal feel to the gowns, so feminine and flirty. And the peacoat … very twiggy!
